Admission to the G. Olivi Museum
- Full ticket (Olivi Museum): €4.00
- Combined ticket* (Olivi Museum + South Lagoon Civic Museum): €5.00
- Reduced admission: €3.00 for groups of 15 or more paying visitors
Free admission:

- persons with disabilities; where the person concerned needs an accompanying person, gratuity is also extended to the latter;

(*) The Combined Ticket allows one admission to the G. Olivi Museum and one admission to the South Lagoon Civic Museum with no time limit, subject to storage and display of the same.
Book a guided tour
Two tour routes are available:
1. VISIT THE MUSEUM
- A surcharge of €3.00 per person is required, to be added to the cost of the Museum entrance fee.
- The guided tour allows visitors to learn about and explore the museum by moving around the prestigious Palazzo Grassi, visiting the two exhibition floors dedicated to Adriatic fauna, marine biology and fishing traditions.
- The guided tour is also adaptable for groups with children.
- The duration of the tour is generally 90 minutes, but it is possible to agree on a different duration when booking.
- The guided tour must be booked in advance by emailing museoolivi@unipd.it or calling tel. +39 041 401774 during museum opening hours.

2. VISIT TO THE MUSEUM AND FISHING BOAT SHORE
- A surcharge of €7.00 per person is required, to be added to the cost of the Museum entrance fee.
- In addition to the contents of the Museum, the guided tour allows visitors to learn more about seafood products and their sustainability by visiting the Retail Fish Market in Canal Vena, one of the oldest fish markets in the Venice Lagoon, and to observe local fishing boats up close by learning about their different fishing methods by walking along Canal San Domenico.
- The guided tour is also adaptable for groups with children (minimum recommended age 8).
- The tour generally lasts 120 minutes, but a different duration can be agreed upon when booking.

Where we are
The Giuseppe Olivi Museum of Adriatic Zoology is located inside Palazzo Grassi, an 18th-century building in the historic center of Chioggia.
The address of the Museum is Riva Vena, No. 1281, ZIP code 30015, Chioggia (VE).
The Museum is located within a Restricted Traffic Zone (ZTL), where only authorized persons may enter by car. The Museum is easily accessible on foot from Corso del Popolo, the main street in downtown Chioggia. Or, from Sottomarina, the Museum can be reached on foot or by car to Park Unione, continuing on foot to the Museum.
HOW TO REACH US
Auto
Chioggia is located in the southern area of the Venice Lagoon, easily accessible via the Romea State Road (SS309), about 60 km from Padua and Venice and about 100 km from Ravenna.
In Chioggia, we recommend parking your car at:
- Park Unione | Address: Isola dell’Unione, 30015 Chioggia (VE).
From Park Unione, you can reach the Olivi Museum on foot, the distance is 900 meters (about 12 minutes). There are no architectural barriers between Park Unione and the Olivi Museum. - Giove Parking | Address: Via Isola Saloni, 100, 30015 Chioggia (VE).
From Giove Parking, you can reach the Olivi Museum on foot, the distance is 900 meters (about 12 minutes).
Architectural barriers: to get from Giove Parking to the Olivi Museum, you need to cross two canals: Canal Lombardo and Canal Vena. Almost all bridges in Chioggia have steps. To avoid architectural barriers, use Ponte Canal Lombardo to cross Canal Lombardo and the pedestrian walkway near Ponte Filippini to cross Canal Vena. After crossing the walkway, turn left onto Riva Vena. Go straight along Riva Vena to the Museum. - Saloni Parking | Address: Via Isola Saloni, 90, 30015 Chioggia VE

By plane
Venice Airport – Marco Polo | There is a bus that directly connects Venice Marco Polo Airport and Chioggia.
- At Marco Polo Airport, take the extra-urban bus no.85 of the ARRIVA VENETO Line. Bus 85 departs from the airport, get on at the “Marco Polo” stop. In Chioggia, get off at the “Via Naccari” stop. From the “Via Naccari” stop, you can reach the Olivi Museum on foot, the distance is 1.1 km.
- Travel time: The bus from the Airport takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach Chioggia. From the bus stop, the Museum is about a 15-minute walk.
Venice Airport – Treviso (Canova Airport) | from Treviso Airport, you need to take two buses to reach Chioggia. The first to go from Treviso to Venice and the second to go from Venice to Chioggia.
- At Treviso Airport, take the extra-urban bus no.351 of the ATVO Line. Bus 351 departs from the airport, get on at the “Airport” stop. In Venice, get off at the terminus “Piazzale Roma”. From Piazzale Roma, take the second bus, no. 80 of the ARRIVA VENETO Line. In Chioggia, get off at the “Via Naccari” stop. From the “Via Naccari” stop, you can reach the Olivi Museum on foot, the distance is 1.1 km.
- Travel time: Bus no. 315 from the Airport takes about 1 hour to reach Venice. From Venice, bus no. 80 takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach Chioggia. From the bus stop, the Museum is about a 15-minute walk.
By train

Autobus extraurbano
From Padua | Use the extra-urban bus no. E005 V or E005 Z to Sottomarina of the BUSITALIA Line.
- The bus heading says “SOTTOMARINA” or “PIOVE DI SACCO – CONTINUES TO SOTTOMARINA”.
- The bus departs from Padua Bus Station every half hour. In Chioggia, get off at the “Campo Marconi” stop. From the “Campo Marconi” stop, you can reach the Olivi Museum on foot, the distance is 950 meters. Important: to return to Padua, take the same bus not at the “Campo Marconi” stop but at the “Via Naccari” stop. From the Olivi Museum, you need to walk 1.1 km (about 15 minutes) to reach the “Via Naccari” stop.
- Travel time: From Padua, the bus takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Chioggia. From the bus stop, the Museum is about a 13-minute walk.
From Venice | Use the extra-urban bus no. 80 of the ARRIVA VENETO Line.
- The bus departs from Piazzale Roma in Venice every half hour. In Chioggia, get off at the “Via Naccari” stop. From the “Via Naccari” stop, you can reach the Olivi Museum on foot, the distance is 950 m (about 15 minutes).
- Travel time: From Venice, the bus takes about 1 hour to reach Chioggia. From the bus stop, the Museum is about a 15-minute walk.
By vaporetto
From Venice Lido, Alberoni, and Pellestrina, you can reach the Museum with the ACTV LINE 11, which includes a bus and a vaporetto.
- Bus no. 11 departs from Venice Lido, from the “Santa Maria Elisabetta” stop, where vaporetti from Venice also arrives. From Venice Lido, bus 11 passes through the localities of Alberoni and Pellestrina, ending its route at the “Pellestrina Cimitero” stop. There, you need to take vaporetto no.11, getting off at Chioggia (the only stop). In Chioggia, you disembark at Piazza Vigo. From Piazza Vigo, cross Ponte Vigo to reach Riva Vena where the Museum is located.
- Travel time: from Venice Lido, the vaporetto takes 45 minutes to reach “Pellestrina cimitero”. From Pellestrina, the vaporetto takes 25 minutes to reach Chioggia.
- The Museum is a 3-minute walk from the vaporetto stop if you go via Ponte Vigo.
- Architectural barriers: like almost all bridges in Chioggia, Ponte Vigo has steps. To avoid them, from the vaporetto stop, do not take Ponte Vigo, but walk along Corso del Popolo to the Church of the Holy Trinity. At the Church, take the pedestrian walkway near Ponte Filippini to cross Canal Vena. After crossing the walkway, turn left onto Riva Vena. Go straight along Riva Vena to the Museum (from the vaporetto using the level walkway, the Museum is about a 15-minute walk).
On foot
The Museum is located in the historic center of Chioggia, inside Palazzo Grassi, in a pedestrian and Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), where only authorized people can enter by car. The Museum is located along Riva Vena, a pedestrian street along Canal Vena. Riva Vena is parallel to and in the middle between Corso del Popolo and Fondamenta San Domenico.
You can arrive from Corso del Popolo:
- From “Giove” and “Saloni” Parking lots.
- By bus from Padua and Venice.
- From Venice Marco Polo and Venice-Treviso (Canova) Airports.
If you have taken a walk in the historic center of Chioggia.
From Corso del Popolo, you can cross any bridge to reach Riva Vena, including the level walkway without steps near the Church of the Holy Trinity and Ponte Filippini. Once you reach Riva Vena, turn left and continue to the Museum.
Travel time: from the level walkway, the Museum is a 5-minute walk.
You can arrive from Fondamenta San Domenico:
- From Sottomarina on foot, by bike, or by car.
- From “Unione” Parking.
- From the Chioggia Wholesale Fish Market.
From Sottomarina, you can walk across the Translagoon Bridge, passing Park Unione on the left an the Wholesale Fish Market on the right, until the intersection with Fondamenta San Domenico.
The Fondamenta is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) but not pedestrian. Turn right onto the Fondamenta, then continue to Calle Grassi Naccari and enter it. Walk all the way down Calle Grassi Naccari arriving at Canal Vena. The Museum is at Palazzo Grassi, the last building on the right.
Travel time: on foot, the Museum is about 30 minutes from Sottomarina, 15 from Park Unione, and 10 from the Wholesale Fish Market. The Fish Market at via Giovanni Poli n. 1 is the closest point where you are always allowed to arrive by car, then you must continue on foot. At the Fish Market, you cannot park your car; only brief stops are allowed. The closest parking is Park Unione.
