FOR SCHOOLS

The Museum of Adriatic Zoology “G. Olivi” of the University of Padua, since its inception in 2011, has hosted dozens of school groups every year, from kindergarten through national and international graduate courses. On the strength of a team of marine biologists who have developed countless proposals for museum education over the years, we are passionately dedicated to continuously updating our educational offerings, designed for schools of all levels.

The museum offers guided tours and workshop activities both within the exhibition halls and on the grounds, blending theory and practice for dynamic and engaging learning.

We offer a variety of educational experiences that enhance our rich heritage and stimulate critical and creative scientific thinking. The activities, adapted for each school level, cover such crucial topics as the richness and vulnerability of marine biodiversity, the physiology of aquatic organisms, local fishing traditions, the sustainability of anthropogenic actions in the marine environment, with a special focus on the Adriatic, and much more.

The Museum is making available free of charge to teachers three in-depth texts designed to reintroduce and deepen in the classroom the themes encountered during the guided tour: the two booklets “Chioggia and the Giuseppe Olivi Museum of the University of Padua” and “Two Words on the Adriatic Sea” delve into the history of the collection on display at the Museum and clearly tell the peculiarities of the Adriatic Sea and the organisms that inhabit it. “The Museum and the School” is a real educational manual, designed as a support tool for Teachers in facilitating and stimulating classroom understanding of the topics presented at the Museum.

Teachers interested in the publications, which are available free of charge, can request the necessary form to obtain them from Museum staff: museoolivi@unipd.it – tel. 041/401774 (during museum opening hours).
